Charlotte L. Clasby Obituary

Charlotte L. (Tirrell) Clasby, 95, of Avon, passed away April 25, 2026. She was originally from Boston and retired early to care for her grandchildren.

Charlotte was the wife of the late John P. Clasby, beloved mother of Debra Simpson of Whitman, Patricia Kenney of Avon and the late William Gillan and Leo Gillan; loving grandmother of Erin, Nicole and her husband Matthew, Cameron, Melissa, and John. Great-grandmother of Matthew and Amelia.  Sister of the late George Tirrell, Eugene Tirrell, Thomas Tirrell, Gertrude Tirrell, Mary Golden McKenzie, Phyllis Golden Carista and Donald Golden; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was someone who truly lived. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and made every moment brighter for those around her. She loved a good shopping trip, especially when she could find the best bargain on the rack. Going out for lunch was one of her favorite pastimes, and she never passed up a chance to enjoy a big apple at the pancake house. She was always ready for a party and a dance floor, where her gift for conversation and her genuine interest in others made her the kind of person everyone was drawn to. Charlotte could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and by the end, they were no longer strangers.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Her days out with her daughters were some of her favorite days. She was a proud and devoted Nana to her grandchildren and cherished her role as “Big Nana” to her great-grandchildren. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, always opening her heart, and her home, to anyone in need. To know her was to be welcomed, cared for, and treated like family.

Charlotte had her signature favorites: a hot cup of tea, reading a good book, sharing some penuche fudge,a pecan mudslide, her programs (Dr. Phil, QVC, Oprah, and a good crime drama), a raspberry lime rickey, and a Sully’s hot dog enjoyed during a stroll around Castle Island with the people she loved most.

Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, laughter, and connection. Her ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved is something that will never be forgotten. Charlotte’s spirit will live on in every story shared, every laugh remembered, and every gathering filled with love.
