Charles R. Craig III, 80, of Brockton, passed away Dec. 3, 2022 after failing health. Born in Weymouth, he enjoyed sailing at the Dorchester Yacht Club in his youth. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a medic in Germany. Early on he worked at General Dynamics Fore River Shipyard and eventually retired after working at Pilgrim Insurance. Charles was proud of his 22 years of sobriety and loved New England Patriots and Notre Dame College football.
He was predeceased by his beloved Cindy Barker and leaves his children Charles R. Craig IV (and Inga Olsen) of Gorham, Maine, Kelli A. Cahill (and Michael) of Bridgewater, Jill A. Silva (and Albert) of Brockton, his former wife and the mother of his children Shirley A. Craig, whom he loved and admired, grandchildren Justin Silva, Alison Silva, Cori Cahill, Brooke Silva, and Ryan Craig, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carole Chighisola, Candace Daugirda, and Mary Simpson.
Following cremation, all are welcome to his memorial calling hours Wednesday December 7th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private family service and committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
