Carolyn Lucy Obituary

Carolyn M. (Biase) Lucy passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, her 91st birthday, at River Court Residences in Groton, where she had been lovingly cared for since the summer of 2022. She considered River Court her home, and the compassionate care she received there brought her comfort in her final years. Carolyn was born in Stoneham, the daughter of the late Carl J. and Marie S. (Yebba) Biase. She was raised in Woburn and Winchester, where she graduated from Winchester High School. After earning a certificate from Chandler Business School, she worked as a librarian in Winchester.

Carolyn married Robert F. Lucy of Belmont in August of 1959, and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage in Brockton until his passing in 2013. They were the proud, devoted parents to four children. Carolyn is survived by her son, Robert F. Lucy Jr. and his wife Lori (of Shirley), daughter Denise Hayes and her husband Peter (of Bridgewater), son Cathal J. Lucy and his wife Marybeth (of Atlanta, GA), and son J. Timothy Lucy and his wife Sheila (of Braintree). She was a loving grandmother to Robert F. Lucy III and his wife Kelley (of Westminster), Allison Webb and her husband Gabriel (of Shirley), Catherine and Caroline Hayes (of Bridgewater), Saoirse Schworer and her husband Jon (of Mainville, OH), Seamus Lucy USMC (of San Diego, CA), Liam Lucy and his wife Brenna (of Tucson, AZ), Teresa Patukonis and her husband Michael (of East Bridgewater), Abaigeal, Timothy, and Ciara Lucy (of Braintree), and great-grandmother to MJ and Benjamin Patukonis (of East Bridgewater) and Michael Schworer (of Mainville, OH). She was also excitedly awaiting the arrival of two additional great-grandchildren in the coming weeks. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Mary Susan Clement, her niece Jennifer Sales and her husband Steven, and her great-niece Marie Sales (all of Tewksbury), and many other nieces and nephews.

Carolyn and Bob were active and devout members of the Catholic Church, first at St. Colman’s Church and later at St. Edward’s, now St. Edith Stein Church. They attended daily mass, with Carolyn routinely volunteering as a greeter. Their many fond memories of Brockton include meals at Christo’s and socializing within the community.

At home, Carolyn found joy in cooking, reading, knitting, and calligraphy. Her creativity also fueled her long tenure at Michael’s craft store, where she worked for more than 25 years. Her fun spirit and outgoing nature were a blessing to her family, friends, and, later, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As the generations continue, her legacy endures.

All are welcome to calling hours on Saturday, October 11th, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main Street, Brockton, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 East Main Street, Brockton.
