Carol J. (Gagner) Fratus, 83, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side under hospice care. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Irene (Pelletier) Hutchinson and Jack Gagner. Carol lived in Brockton most of her life, raised her family here and worked at West Acres Nursing Home as a nurse's aide for over 40 years until retiring due to illness at the age of 76. She was dedicated to her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol was an active lady, enjoying D.W. Field Park walks; she loved to read, garden, shop for clothes, shoes and accessories, paint, decorate, and do DIY projects.
Carol was the wife of the late William J. Fratus, beloved mother of William J. Fratus Jr. of Brockton, Kevin M. Fratus of Brockton, Kim Johnson and her husband Michael of Wareham, and the late Kathryn Reed, loving grandmother of Jarrid Johnson and his wife Ally, Ryan Johnson, Teighla Johnson, Sydney Johnson and the late Michael Johnson, great-grandmother of Nolan and Liam McKay, Camden Johnson, Amaiya Johnson, Aubrielle Johnson and the late Michael Johnson, sister of Shirley Link and the late Richard of Maryland, Linda Steeves and the late Arnold of New Hampshire, Jeani Gagner of Brockton, Richard Gagner of Boston, Mary Murphy of Florida, and the late Robert Gagner and James Gagner, and an aunt of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday July 1st from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton followed by her funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 103 North Main St. West Bridgewater and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Brockton VNA Hospice or American Lung Association.
