Bruce L. Holmquist, retired West Bridgewater police officer, 76, passed away June 5, 2022 unexpectedly. The son of the late Florence and Robert L. Holmquist, he graduated from West Bridgewater High School and the Police Academy and took classes at Massasoit. Dedicated to his community, he served as School Safety officer in his early career, was a beloved high school football coach, Constable of West Bridgewater, member Zoning Board of Appeals, and President of the Council on Aging. He was a life member of Paul Revere Masonic Lodge and helped manage its Angel Fund, and was Sergeant of Arms and life member of Samoset Rod and Gun Club. Bruce received many awards and recognitions including Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters 2010 Citizen of the Year. Bruce is survived by his partner of 53 years, Pamela J. Humphreys and was known as Uncle Booey to his nieces and nephews, numerous godchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews. He had countless friends closer than family and words cannot capture his huge heart and beloved character. All are welcome to calling hours Friday June 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, his funeral Saturday June 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
