Bernard “Buzzy” Joseph Cummings Jr., 84, of Brockton, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, MA.
Born December 7, 1939, he was the beloved husband of Marilyn A. (McCluskey) Cummings for 61 years. Bernard was a loving father to the late Susan F. Cummings and cared for her son Brian Bobillier Jr. as his own. He is survived by his adoring children and their spouses; Bernard J. Cummings (son) and Reneé Vardaro; Brian J. Cummings (son); Matthew A. Cummings (son) and Tina Zupofska; Christine A. (Cummings) Kelley (daughter) and Dana Kelley. Also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Brian Bobillier Jr.; Ryan and Kyle Cummings, Sean, Shannon, and Shane Cummings; Carolan and Jillian Kelley; and Bridget Carroll.
He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a signalman, was an active member of St. Nicholas Church (Abington) and St. Edith Stein Church (Brockton) and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years. Sponsor, counselor, advisor, and friend to many in recovery. Above all, Bernard filled his home and the world around him with music that could inspire song and dance in anyone that would listen.
All are welcome to calling hours Wed., Dec. 27th from 5-8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, his funeral service Thurs., Dec. 28th at 10 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
