Barry L. Bloomstein, 68, of Sharon, passed away on April 3, 2026 at home under hospice care with his family by his side after a recent diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. Raised in Brockton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Stratoti) Bloomstein. Barry graduated from Brockton High School in 1975 and from U. Mass. Boston. He had a long career in diesel mechanics and trucking, and was a service manager in that industry for many years, currently at R & D Trucking in Avon until just last month. Barry worked hard to provide for his family and when not working he spent quality time with them and extended family and friends. He resided in Sharon since 1989 and enjoyed Cape Cod, cruises, Patriots football, annual Fanueil Hall Christmas outings, and visiting Anna Maria Island in Florida where his parents had resided.
Barry was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. Kerr Bloomstein for 44 years, loving father of Kaitlin Whitecross and her husband Jeff of Mansfield and Emily Switzer and her husband Brian of Sharon, devoted Papa of Natalie and Owen Whitecross and Siobhan and Maeve Switzer, brother of Augie Bloomstein of Bridgewater, nephew of Linda Waitekunas of Juno Beach, Florida, brother-in-law of Maureen and Richard Plunkett of Westborough and Joan and Neal Metzendorf of Boston, lifelong friend of Brian Clifford, Bob Kaseta and Mike DaSilva, uncle of Augie Bloomstein Jr. and Katelyn, Shelly and Matt McKean, Jess Bloomstein, Molly Sophis and David, Sarah Metzendorf, Kevin Metzendorf, Mikaela and Shaun Hastings, and their families. He also leaves close cousins in the Bloomstein, Stratoti and Kerr families. Barry joins in eternity his godchild and nephew Ryan Plunkett and his wife’s parents Joan and George Kerr.
All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday April 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and his funeral Thursday April 9th at 9:15 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home followed by his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St. North Easton. Cremation and private committal.
