Antoni Giro, 96, of Brockton, passed away on March 11, 2021. Antoni was the beloved husband of 65 years to Danuta (Michalowska) Giro; loving father of Ewa Giro; dear brother of the late Feliks, Stanislaw, Boleslaw, Bronislaw, Josef, Wincenty, Helena, Monika, and Waleria Giro; an uncle of many nieces and nephews, including Waldemar Giro, Stanley and Richard Giero and his niece Janet Giero. Antoni leaves behind numerous cousins who live in Brockton (Gerry’s Family) and other parts of the United States and Poland. A native of Poland, Antoni worked there as a draftsman in building construction. He came to America in the late 1970s and stayed with his Brother Boleslaw’s family in West Bridgewater. In 1985 he moved to Brockton where he spent the rest of his life. He was immensely proud of becoming a US Citizen in 1993. In the US, Antoni worked very hard for many years and when he retired he enjoyed gardening, working around his new house, walking and chatting with neighbors. Antoni always helped his extended family in Poland and he will be remembered by many of the family members and friends as a caring and generous person. He was an active communicant of the former Our Lady of Ostrobrama Polish Church on Main St Brockton and recently parishioner of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Boston. All are welcome to visitation Thursday, March 18 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, and to his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Church and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
