Alfred J. Amoroso, 91, of Brockton, formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2024. Al was born in East Boston on June 14, 1933, to the late Joseph and Rose (Interbartolo) Amoroso. Alfred was a Boston College High School graduate and went on to work in the insurance industry. “Al” known to some, and “Freddie” known to others, was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and a former lector. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal O'Connell Assembly for many years, as well as a member of the Sons of Italy.
During his time in the insurance industry, he met his late wife, E. Dolores (DiRienzo) Amoroso who preceded him in death. They were married for 66 years and had 5 children: Diane M. Racette and her husband Jerry of W. Townsend, Thomas J. Amoroso and his wife Janet of Kennebunk, ME, Carol A. Amoroso of Stoughton, Anne M. Caswell and her husband Jeffrey of Brockton, and the late James A. Amoroso. Alfred was also grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the beloved brother of the late Salvatore Amoroso and his wife Rita, John Amoroso Sr. and his wife Louise, Michaelina Harrington and her husband Dan, and Anna Cultrera and her husband Sam; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Alfred’s life during calling hours on Sunday, August 18th from 1-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, his funeral Monday, August 19th at 9:30 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home, funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St., Brockton. Private burial.
