byAlexandra Celestin-Lavrentyeva, 53, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024 around 5:58 p.m. surrounded by all her loved ones at John Hopkins Suburban Hospital in Maryland. Born in Petion-Ville, Haiti, she moved to the United States in 1986 and lived in Boston from 1986 to 2005. She made Washington D.C. her home base for 19 years as she traveled the world. She was an avid traveler who visited many countries, and because of her sparkling personality made friends everywhere she went.
Alexandra attended Lewenberg Middle School and West Roxbury High School in Boston and obtained her bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Massachusetts. She later got an education in Culinary Arts at Boston College. She enjoyed cooking and eating with friends. She was well known for her compassionate nature and her bubbly and playful energy. Everyone knew her for amazing fusion cuisine and hospitality. In all her travels she blended all the flavors and cultures she loved. Her fine palate and attention to detail made her “the hostess with the mostest”.
Later in life she created a business called “Tatie Mia” where she displayed her love for gastronomy and cultural beauty. She goes by many loving nicknames Alex, Bouboute, Sasha, Tatie, Nenen, Sandra, and Sansan. She was married to her loving husband Sergey where they shared 8 years living together in the DMV. Their love story began in Boston.
She was passionate about helping others and had a generous heart which is why she was involved in many philanthropic activities, she created Lakou Association to help the less fortunate in her home country where her heart never left, Haiti. She absolutely loved her homeland and made several attempts to move full-time. She unfortunately was never able to fully commit due to the love for her other favorite place, France. While living in France for several years she furthered her studies in culinary arts and created beautiful memories.
