Wilbert Lang, 89, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2017. Born in Rose Hill, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Willie and Caroline (Sims) Lang. Wilbert moved to Brockton in 1948 and began his 60 year career at John Cooper Paving and Sealing. He loved traditional gospel music and enjoyed fishing. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he enjoyed watching sports, especially boxing. Wilbert was the beloved father of Lessie Joshua of Nevada, Eddie Lang of California, Ella Lang of Nevada, Jerry Lang of California, Gregory Lang of Utah, Shirley Land of California, Edward Lang of California, Sharon Banks of Hyde Park, Danny Lang of California, Tony Lang of California, and the late Robert Lang; loving brother of Ruth Darwin of Brockton; and a grandfather and great-grandfather of many. He was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. Wilbert also leaves a host of extended family and friends. All are welcome to calling hours Monday, Sept. 25th from 6-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 26th at 10 a.m. in Full Gospel Tabernacle, 441 Main St., Brockton with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. in the church. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery.
