Theresa (Pircio) Spagone, age 104, died peacefully March 22, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Theresa was the devoted wife of the late Michael Spagone. Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1912, Theresa was the eldest child of the late Piertro and Carmela (DiRenzo) Pircio. The family moved to Brockton in 1921. Although Theresa only completed the ninth grade she carried her thirst for knowledge throughout her long life. She loved to read, especially books about history, biographies, and politics. Theresa was employed by Leo F. Mac Iver & Sons, the Brockton Hospital Housekeeping Department and Cape Cod Cricket Lane Clothing. Theresa’s love and faith inspired her children: Lucy Nugent of Brockton, Peter Spagone of East Bridgewater, and Michael Spagone of Bridgewater. She lost her beloved son Anthony “Tony” Spagone four years ago. She leaves daughters-in-law Sylvia (LeBlanc) Spagone, Margaret (Deehan) Spagone, and Joan (Jerome) Spagone. She was the sister of Laura Ferrara of Brockton and Joseph Pircio of Brockton, and the late Anthony Pircio, James Pircio, Philomena Picchione, and Marie Sullivan. Theresa was a grandmother to fifteen, a great grandmother of nineteen, and an aunt to several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton MA, Friday, March 24th from 4 to 8 PM. The funeral procession will gather at 8 AM at the funeral home on Saturday for the Funeral Mass at Saint Edith Stein Parish at 9 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
