Susan Emerson, 73, longtime resident of Brockton, died April 1, 2017. Born in Boston, she was raised in Eastern Massachusetts. She earned an associate’s degree from Massasoit Community College and later a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Northeastern University. Susan had worked as an accountant for many years, and in recent years worked for Shaw’s and Bill’s Taxi. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the East Bridgewater Council on Aging, and enjoyed daytrips, reading and her cat “Kitty”. Susan was the beloved mother of Paul Flathers and his wife Carolyn of Bridgewater, Peter Flathers of New York and Michael Flathers; loving grandmother of Jason Bernier of Bridgewater; and the sister of the late Gail Emerson. Susan also leaves many extended family and friends. Following cremation, all are welcome to calling hours Saturday 12-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private committal.
