Russell X. Welsh, 60, formerly of Avon, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2017. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late James and Helen (Dinneen) Welsh. Russ earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Massasoit Community College. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years and later worked as a program director at BAMSI and Vin-Fen. A selfless man, he helped anyone in need and was loved by many. Russ was the loving father of Joseph Welsh and his fiancée Amber Billmeyer of Madison, Wisconsin; beloved brother of Phyllis Collins and her husband John of Plymouth, Fred Welsh and his wife Rita of Bridgewater, Robert Welsh and his wife Karen of Plymouth, Janet Keane of Bridgewater and her late husband Chris, Susan Williams and her husband Dale of Rochester, and James Welsh and his wife Tina of Bridgewater; and an uncle of several nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Avon. Cremation and private committal.
