Robert P. McKenna, 78, of Brockton for over 40 years, died August 9, 2019. Native of Brighton, he was a son of the late Francis X. and Helen M. (Bradley) McKenna and after high school graduation he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bob was retired from State Street Bank after 44 years there, working his way up from Quincy to Boston and from paper transport to mailroom facilities manager. He was a strong advocate for people with disabilities and was a patient and kind co-worker and friend. Bob was the beloved husband of Mary A. (Cross) McKenna for 55 years, marrying on Dec. 28, 1963. They met in 1956 through mutual friends when he was 15 and she was 12 and have been best friends ever since. Bob was predeceased by his brother Francis X. McKenna Jr. and sister Helen Regan, and nephew Bill Regan. He leaves Bill’s widow Judy Regan of Auburn, nephews Daniel “Butch” Regan of Florida, Don Regan of Billerica and Robert McKenna, godsons Thomas Kirby of Lowell and Andrew Glidden of Florida, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. All are welcome to gather on Wed., Aug. 14th from 10-11 a.m. with 11 a.m. prayer service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and committal at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society.
