Robert A. Farwell, 79, of Waterboro, ME and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on April 25th surrounded by family after a brief illness.  Son of the late Louis S. and Grace (Deeth) Farwell, he was born and raised in Brockton, MA where he made his home until moving to Maine in 2000. He was the loving husband for 58 years of Joan (Saccocia) Farwell, father to Brenda (Farwell) Zoino and her husband James Zoino, Barbara (Farwell) Munden and her husband, Richard Munden, and Robert Farwell, Jr. and Monique (Belanger) Farwell. He was a loving grandfather (Grampa Bob) to Jessica and Greg Zoino; Ryan and Amanda Munden, Matthew and Gamze Munden, Chris Munden, Shawna and Ian Farwell.  He is also survived by his sister Mary (Farwell) Crocker and brother and sister-in-law William and Rose Farwell, sister-in-laws Nancy (Saccocia) Lucchetti, Irene Farwell, Barbara Farwell and and brother-in-law Albert Lucchetti. He was predeceased in death by five siblings: Lewis Farwell, Charles Farwell, James Farwell, Alice (Farwell) Jones, and Grace (Farwell) (Lambert) Cords, brother-in-laws Roland Crocker, Raymond Lambert, James Wood, Charles Cords, Ronald Jones, Forest Fenstermaker, sister-in-law Carol (Saccocia) Wood and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

   Bob attended Brockton Public Schools, Class of 1955. He was a member of the National Guard out of Fort Drum. He worked for the Howard Johnson Manufacturing Plant in Brockton and became the Assistant Plant Manager and Personnel Manager for the Battles Street plant for many years. He organized and ran special events for the employees over the years and was best known for his kindness and compassion. He was instrumental in creating a family atmosphere at the company and even instituted mother’s hours for those employees with children.  In the 30 years at the Howard Johnson Company, he only missed 3 days of work. His work ethic was incomparable and was instilled in his children.  While at “HoJos”, he became a member of the Brockton Chamber of Commerce and served on the Steering Committee and the Water Conservation Commission.

   After leaving Howard Johnson’s, Bob worked for himself as a carpenter and formed Farwell Construction. He continued to build decks, additions, and general carpentry work all his life.

   Bob valued family time vacationing with his children and grandchildren in Maine, and with his wife to the Caribbean annually for over 20 years. He enjoyed boating in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.

   Bob was well known for his lifelong passion for muscle cars. He drove a 56 Plymouth and then a 1965 GTO as a family car that he owned for almost 50 years. He also owned many Mustangs, and still drove a 2008 Mustang Roush convertible with a number plate “NVTO OLD”.  He and his wife, Joan, would pack it to the gills and drive it from Maine to Bonita Springs, Florida each October and return to Little Ossipee Lake, Waterboro, ME each April.  They made many dear friends during their winters in Bonita Springs, FL as well as during their summers in Maine.

   Bob was a very proud member of the Paul Revere Lodge AF & AM, Sawtucket–Pilgrim Royal Arch Chapter, Brockton-Abington Council Royal and Select Master Masons. He was also a member of the Baystate Commandery #38 K.T., a dedicated member of the Paul Revere Degree Team, a Line Officer, and a proud member of the Aleppo Shrine as a Clown Daddy.  For many years, Bob was a weekly volunteer for the masonic escort service at the Brockton Veteran’s Hospital bringing veterans to Sunday morning chapel services.

   A faithful member of the Springs of Bonita Church in Bonita Springs, Florida for many years, Bob’s great strength of character and faith carried him throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all those family and friends whose lives he so deeply touched.
