Robert L. Coolen, 85, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died Dec. 17, 2017. Native of Everett, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired USPS letter carrier and a member of Avon VFW Post 8892; he enjoyed volunteering for Bridgewater Senior Center and being an ambassador for Harborone Bank. He was the husband of Shirley (Blair) Coolen; father of Cheryl Coolen and Robert Jr. and his wife Nanci, all of Hawaii, Diane Goodwin of Norton and Patricia Trottier of Bridgewater; grandfather of Chad, Demi and Bo, Kyle and Heather, and Amy and Jessica; brother of James Coolen of CO, William Coolen of FL, Lillian Rollins of Wakefield, and the late Frank, Edward, Stanley and John Coolen, Elva Hart and Verna Higgins; and an uncle of many. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday 4-7 p.m. and his funeral Friday at 9 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Burial at Mass. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your favorite charity.
