Raymond Laguerre, 91, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2019, under the care of his devoted wife Simone. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he was the son of the late Alcesse and Moricine (Moriceau) Laguerre. Raymond was a member of the First Haitian Church in Brockton for 35 years, where he was a cherished Deacon. He served in the Haitian Coast Guard and later worked as a successful merchant marine, traveling worldwide. He immigrated to Boston in the 1960s and worked for the St. Regis Paper Company for many years until his retirement. Raymond was also a gifted carpenter by trade. He will be greatly missed. Raymond was the beloved husband of Simone (Tingue) Laguerre; loving father of Weiner Laguerre of North Attleboro, Rene Laguerre of Jewitt City, CT, Raymond Laguerre Jr. of North Attleboro, and the late Errol Laguerre; dear grandfather of 12; great-grandfather of 3. Raymond also leaves many additional family members and friends. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday, April 4th from 6-9 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral service Friday, April 5th at 9 a.m. in the First Haitian Church of Brockton, “The Rock”, 940 Main St., Brockton, with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the church. Entombment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
