Mary E. (Smith) Jones, 72, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017. Born in Shelby, NC, she was the daughter of the late John D.  and Lizzie L. Smith. Mary enjoyed life, music, and family, while working diligently throughout her career in field communications. She retired in 1998 after 27 years of service. She was the wife of the late Robert Jones; beloved mother of Robert Jones Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Lisa R. Jones of Brockton; loving grandmother of Akiko Jazz Jones of Brockton; dear sister of Mrs. Julia M. Cobb of NV, Mr. John D. Smith Jr. of Brockton, Mrs. Mary C. Thompson of NC, Mrs. Jeanette Smith Mosley of CA, Mr. William M. Smith of Boston, and the late Mr. Joseph "Twister" Smith. Mary also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Mary will always be loved by family and friends and the Brockton community she loved. Services are respectfully private.
