Lizzetta I. Johnson

Lizzetta was born in Cambridge, MA to Pamela Ann (Howard) Johnson and Charles Wilson Johnson on January 9, 1976. Her early education began at the Fitzgerald Elementary School in Cambridge where she was later awarded a full scholarship to the Cambridge Friends School for three years. She moved with her family to Brockton where she graduated from North Jr. High School in 1989. That same year, she attended Cardinal Spellman High School for two years and later entered Avon High School where she excelled in math and science. She graduated in 1993. While still in high school, Lizzetta was invited to participate in the Harvard University Extension Program, held at the Harvard University campus, where she studied Contemporary African-American Literature in 1992.

From 1993–1994, Lizzetta attended UMASS Lowell where she made the Dean’s List of Achievement. She transferred to Massasoit Community College and completed her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, 2002.

Lizzetta began working at Fashion Bug while still in college. After about 5/6 years, she became employed at the Community Bank (Brockton). In 1999 she worked in the Admissions Office at the Brockton campus of Massasoit Community College. In 2010 she transferred to the Middleboro campus where she worked until her recent passing.

Lizzetta loved to travel. She often went on cruises to Jamaica, Bermuda, and Hawaii, (her favorite place), including Maine, NH, and Cape Cod for fun.

On April 13, 2017, Lizzetta was nominated to serve on the Brockton Commission on Women’s Issues by City Councilor Shaynah Barnes and appointed by Council President Robert Sullivan. Lizzetta is scheduled to be sworn in on JUNE 7, 2017, posthumously.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Earl & Tanya Howard of Medford and Allan &Clare Howard of Fitzwilliam, NH and her late brother Charlie Singleton of Boston.

She leaves 5 nephews, 2 nieces and many loving family members to mourn her loss. Lizzetta will be greatly missed.
