Lawrence Marmish, 93, a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, passed away February 20, 2018. He was born in Bridgewater, October 26, 1924, to Veronica (Feliponis) and Julius P. Marmish. He grew up in Bridgewater, graduating from Bridgewater High School in 1942 where he played on the football team. At age 16, he tried to enlist in the Marine Corps but was turned down due to his young age. In 1943, he was finally able to enlist in the Marine Corps like his older brother, John, where he proudly served during World War II. After returning to Bridgewater, he worked for Ernie's Appliance for many years. He was a member of Bridgewater Vets Club and the Marine Corps League. Larry was the husband of the late Olga, who was the love of his life; together they enjoyed Marine Corps League reunions and international traveling. He was brother of the late Anne, Paul, Michael and John Marmish, Mary Michailow, Olga Janas and Helen Costa; he is survived by his nephews and nieces: John Marmish, Jr. of Hernando, Florida, Paul Marmish of Honolulu, HI and Ashville, N.C., Nancy Ordonia of Niceville, Florida, Barbara Farnum of Taunton, Rita Murphy of Bridgewater, Michael Janas of Mesa AZ, Edward Janas of Destin, Florida, and Veronica Janas of Charleston, S.C. and Laura Michelow of Hyde Park. All are welcome to calling hours Monday 9-11 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton followed by a committal and military honors at 12:30 p.m. at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
