Joseph W. Small

Joseph W. Small Sr., 74, of Taunton since 1994 and formerly of Brockton since 1978, passed away July 22, 2018. Born in Alabama, he came to Boston and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He met and married Brenda J. (Richardson) Small here in 1967. Joe was employed by the V.A. as a shuttle driver and pipefitter from 1982 to 2006, then drove a Trans-Comm bus in Taunton until January 2018. He love watching football, doing home landscaping, and his dogs Trisha and Lady. Joe was the loving husband of the late Brenda; beloved father of Andrew Rivers of Boston, Vanessa Harrison of Brockton, David Jones of Taunton, Joseph W. Small Jr. (and Robin Bell) of Brockton, and Shawnya Carroll (and Naomi) of Atlanta; grandfather of Joseph W. Small III, Quandra, Shari and Carl Harrison Jr., David Shelby and Deshaun Crawford; great-grandfather of Mellie-Lee, Nathan and Cameron; brother of Sonny Small, John Small, Gregory Small, Lily Williams and Ruby Williams; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 9-11 a.m. and his funeral service at 11 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and burial at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
