Joseph T. Qualter Jr., 84, of Avon, died October 5, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Joseph was the loving husband of the late Barbara (Andrews) Qualter; beloved father of Gary Qualter of Avon, Dianne Clinton and her husband Charles of Avon, Michele Quagge and her husband Peter of Bridgewater, David Qualter and his wife Marisa of Marshfield, Kristine Mahoney and her husband William of Norton and Kelly Benoit and her husband Peter of Acushnet; dear grandfather of Crystal, Jessica, Brandon, Heather; Timothy, Jessica, Jillian; (the late Austen), Camden, Faren; Jacob, Leigh; Amanda, Meghan, Brendan; Nathan, McKenna; great-grandfather of Darrian, William, Payton; brother of Rita Lacey of Norfolk, Leo Qualter of Billerica, and the late Mary McNeil, Ellen Bogosh and Robert Qualter; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Joseph T. and Ellen T. (Daly) Qualter. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He began his working career as a truck driver, and then as a warehouse manager. He proudly retired as a dispatcher for Avon Police and Fire Services after 20 years of service, a job he greatly enjoyed. A 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, he was a longtime member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Michael Church. All are welcome to calling hours Tues., Oct. 9th from 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Wed., Oct. 10th at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Church and burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon.
