Jake N. Boyd, 82, of Brockton, Massachusetts since 1975, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2018. Born in Sumter, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Enoch and Caroline (Nelson) Boyd. Jake was the beloved husband of Kimberly A. (Ellerby) Boyd for over 42 years and is survived by five children Darryl Boyd, Robin Reid, Leslie Boyd Smith, Jonathan Boyd, Christopher Boyd, and their spouses. Jake is also survived by three sisters Beulah Soanes, Caroline Freeman and her husband Skyler and Blanche Davis, and the late Annie Birch; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jake also leaves a host of additional family and friends. Jake was a retired foreman for Jordan Marsh; he was also an auto enthusiast and enjoyed boxing. Jake loved hanging out at Dunkin Donuts and talking with his friends. He was a beloved member of the community always friendly and outgoing. Jake loved all people and especially his family; frequently found bragging about his sons, daughters, sisters and wife. “When I look at myself in the mirror, I see my past; when I look at my wife, I see my present; when I look at my family, I see my future.” -Jake Boyd All are welcome to a calling hour Tuesday, Sept. 11th from 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton.
