J. George Sites, 95, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away Jan. 16, 2018. He was a graduate of Brockton High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After graduating from Wentworth Institute, he became a printer by trade and after decades of work he retired as director of Harvard University Office of the Publisher. He was an active member of the Brockton YMCA, and an avid fisherman, vegetable gardener, music fan and reciter of poetry. George enjoyed caring for his home and thanks to his many friends and neighbors, especially Pat and the gang from the Y, Al and Debbie, Bob and Margaret, Al and Vanessa, and Scott and his family he was able to stay in his home and live a rich life until the end of his journey. George was the husband of the late Ruth L. (Borges) Sites; beloved father of John G. Sites of Pembroke and the late Patricia, Stephen Sites and his wife Lisa Krepela of Berkley, California, and Susan Barca and her husband Joseph of Mansfield; grandfather of Heather B. Sites, Jessica L. Sites, Brendan J. Barca, and Alexandra K. Barca; brother of the late Roger F. Sites with whom he went fishing often and Katherine (Sites) Oldham; uncle of Michael G. Sites and his wife Kathleen Flaherty Sites and Jo-Anne Sites Lombardo and her husband John Lombardo. All are welcome to calling hours Sunday 1-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Monday at 8 a.m., funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Parish and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association.
