Mr. George Stanley Striley of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was 83 years old. George Stanley was born to parents George Elwood and Pearl Anderson Striley on December 4, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa. He grew up as the eldest of six siblings and attended Clinton High School, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the US Navy at age 20, serving multiple reenlistments in active duty service until 1971. At that time he went into the fleet reserve until his final honorable discharge in 1977. While in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, he married Emma Lidia Lluvians in 1971. After leaving the Navy he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. Drawing on his extensive Navy experience, he took a position as an electrician with a detachment of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Boston, serving until his retirement in 2004. George Stanley is survived by his wife, Emma, of Brockton, Massachusetts; brothers Keith (Des Moines, Iowa), Harold (Camanche, Iowa), Darold (Pflugerville, Texas), and Kenneth (Clinton, Iowa); sister Frances Winters (Booneville, Arkansas); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. The family is grateful for the condolences and for the care and concern shown by the many care providers who have supported him and Emma in recent years. A private family memorial will be held.
