Eleanor Davis Claff

Eleanor Davis Claff, 90, mostly of Brockton, died peacefully July 3, 2018. Daughter of the late Catharine and Harold Davis, she was raised in Hingham and was a graduate of Thayer Academy and Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg VA. Eleanor manufactured the Autotherm medical device for many years which her husband’s uncle had patented and she had also worked at a stationery shop. For over 20 years she volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels in Brockton. She was a member of and corresponding secretary for the Brockton Republican City Committee. Eleanor enjoyed sewing, needlework, cross-stitching and feeding birds, and was a lifelong cat lover. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Kathryn D. Knudsen and her husband Ralph of Mechanicsburg PA and her son Roger E. Claff and his wife Ellen of Herndon VA; grandchildren Levi and Kevin Wolfe, Meghan Bruce and Daniel Claff; 6 great-grandchildren; she was the wife of the late Chester E. Claff Jr. for almost 60 years; and sister of the late Harold T. Davis Jr. All are welcome to gather on Saturday, August 25th at 1 p.m. for a 2 p.m. memorial service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private committal at Lowell Cemetery.
