Diane M. (Grize) Silvia

Diane M. (Grize) Silvia, 73, passed away May 19, 2018.  Native of Brockton, a career woman who also focused on what she knew was her most important job, single mother of two boys.  Many people determine their success on material things but Diane’s definition of success was the opportunities she provided to her boys often times at her sacrifice. Sacrifice is something Diane became accustomed to. She lived a very modest life to provide the best she could for her boys and later for her grandchildren. Diane suffered from Multiple Sclerosis at a very young age but she would never let that stop her. She worked two full time jobs to provide the best for her family and never complained. She would always say “people have it worse than I do”.  Diane also loved helping others. Wherever she went she made friends. She was the definition of a social butterfly. In Diane’s free time, which rarely happened, she enjoyed going to the beach and relaxing in the sun or cooking Sunday family meals. Diane was the beloved mother of Robert Silvia of Berkley and his wife Mary of Taunton and Derek Silvia and his wife Dianne of Bridgewater; devoted grandmother of Robert, Nicholas, Justin, Samantha, Christina, and great- grandmother of Anthony and Walter. Following cremation, all are welcome to the memorial calling hours of Thursday 4-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Time of Remembrance with prayers in Waitt Funeral Home 850 North Main St. Brockton. Private committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the National M.S. Society.
