Charles Sergio, 95, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Sept. 30, 2017. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had sparred with Rocky Marciano in Brockton gyms. A carpenter by trade, Charles was retired from the building department with the City of Brockton after many years, and was also a Brockton special police officer. He was an animal lover, especially of birds, a former Beaver Brook Beagle Club member, and enjoyed mowing and fixing lawn mowers. Charles was the beloved husband of Ann (Dailida) Sergio for almost 70 years; loving father of Dianne Nevirauskas (and Roy) of FL, Charles Sergio Jr. (and Linda) of Avon, Deborah Holmes (and Michael) of Brockton and Dennis Sergio (and Nancy) of Bridgewater; dear grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 14; brother of John “Skip” Sergio and the late Michael, Samuel, and Joseph Sergio, Angie Smith, Anna Short, Helen Izzo, Irene Roche and Josephine Manson; and an uncle of many. All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12 p.m. service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton and burial at Calvary Cemetery.
