Adelson Antoine Jean-Gilles, 90, of Brockton, passed away peacefully with his children at his bedside on June 1, 2018. Born in Mabonne, Bidorette, Haiti, on August 28, 1927, he was raised in Plaisance, Nord, Haiti. Adelson retired from Polaroid after many years there. He enjoyed playing Dominoes and his frequent visits to Haiti. He will be greatly missed by his family. Adelson was the beloved husband of Rose Madelaine (Cherenfant) Jean-Gilles for 50 years; loving father of Frantz Antoine Jean-Gilles and his wife Nicole Jean-Gilles of Providence, R.I., Yves Herns Jean-Gilles and his wife Mirlene Jean-Gilles of Pawtucket, R.I., Murielle Despeignes and her husband Yves Augustin of Hyde Park, Jouseline (Youseline) Elie and her husband Hector Elie of Randolph, Sherly Michel and her husband Socrate Pierre of Port St. Lucie, FL, Dr. Kathly M. Jean-Gilles and her husband David Pierre of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Natasha Jean-Gilles of Brockton; dear grandfather of Fallon Tania Jean-Gilles, Frank Anthony Jean-Gilles, Farrell T. Jean-Gilles, Nicolette M. Jean-Gilles, and Nicholson Jean-Gilles, Tatyana Jean-Gilles, Abigail Jean-Gilles, and Anahee Jean-Gilles, Mirthaud Augustin-Emile, Dinah Augustin, Yves W. Augustin, and Samy Kerlin Augustin, Cassandra Elie, Smith Elie, and Amanda Elie, Nephtalie and Karlynsky Dujour, Christiana Rose Pierre-Darius and Steven Jordan Pierre, and Z’Aheed Antoine Jean-Gilles; great-grandfather of Louricia B. Jean-Gilles, Imani R. Belony, Ralph J. Emile Jr., and twins Gabriel C. and Adriel C. Darius; brother of Harry Vastey and his wife Marie Pacaud Vastey of North Carolina and the late Nerius, Helene, and Dieudonne Jean-Gilles and Raymonde (Jean-Gilles) Cadet; and an uncle of Ghislaine Jean-Gilles, Ovide Obas, Nelly Cadet, Bacius Cadet, Joseph (Rodrigue) Germaine, Jacquelin Cadet, Vesta Cadet, Messina Cadet, Antoine (Guito) Jean-Gilles, Reginald Obas, Dently Germaine, and the late Rose and Marie Cadet, Marie Monelle Mondestin, Raymond and James Mondestin, and Necius Jean-Gilles. All are welcome to calling hours Friday, June 8th from 6-9 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral Mass Saturday, June 9th at 8:30 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, 54 Lyman St., Brockton.
