James A. “Sport” Wright, 46, of Brockton, died May 14, 2012. A native of Franklin, Virginia, he was a chef in foodservice until his illness. A devoted family man; he enjoyed cooking and was a Boston sports team fan. James was the son of Marie (Morris) Wright of Brockton and Arthur Wright of Virginia; husband of Susan R. (Chambers) Wright; father of Antoine Wright; brother of Samantha Wright of Revere; grandson of Estelle Wright. James is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Robert J. “Bubba” Regan, 55, of Middleboro, died May 15, 2012. A native of Brockton, he was a member of International Heat & Frost Insulators Union, Local No. 6 for over 25 years, Polish White Eagles and the YMCA in Middleboro. He enjoyed playing golf at D.W. Field Golf Club. Robert was the beloved husband of Diane N. (MacDermid) Regan; loving father of Jason and Jessica Regan, all of Middleboro; son of William Regan of Brockton and the late Aldonia Regan; son-in-law of Nancy MacDermid of Middleboro; brother of William Jr. and his wife Judith of Foxboro, Christopher and his wife Kathy of Brockton and David and his wife Helen of Brockton and an uncle of several nieces and nephews. Louise A. (Berzinis) Norvish, 98, of Easton, formerly of Brockton, died May 13, 2012. A 1931 graduate of Brockton High School, she graduated from the nursing program at Simmons College and was a registered nurse at New England Deaconess Hospital prior to her marriage. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and her pets, but especially enjoyed having pizza with her son every Friday. Louise often tended her family graves weekly. Louise was the wife of the late Stephen Norvish; beloved mother of William Norvish of Norwell, Catherine Voci and her husband Dennis “Richard” Voci of North Easton, and the late Robert Norvish; loving grandmother of 9 - Melissa Quinn, Christopher Voci, Robert Norvish, Jr., Brenda Flint, David Norvish, Donna Weldon, William Norvish, Jr., Daniel Norvish, and Michelle Barton; great-grandmother 24; great-great grandmother of 6, and a sister of the late Albyn Berzinis. Shirley D. (Newsome) Galvin, 74, of Avon, formerly of Brockton, died May 10, 2012 with family by her side. A retired home healthcare aide, she had also previously worked at Foxborough Co. and the cafeteria at Brockton High School. She enjoyed doing all types of crafts. Shirley was the beloved mother of  Justin Keith of Charlestown, Nicolä Cosio of Bedford, NH, Virginia “Gigi” McCoy of Brockton and Jacqueline Sloan of Kentucky; loving grandmother of Jacob Marchand, Matthew and Alicia Cosio, and Samuel and Benjamin McCoy; companion of Ernest Calcagno; sister of Robert Newsome and the late V. Mark J. White, 56, of Stoughton, formerly of Dorchester, died May 4, 2012. A graduate of Boston Latin High School and UMass Boston, he was a claims adjustor for Liberty Mutual and worked in the athletic department at Milton Academy. Jean C. Marcelin, 90, of Brockton, died April 25, 2012. He was a school teacher in Haiti for over 40 years. Annmarie Gillis, 49, of Haverhill, died suddenly May 4, 2012 at her home. A dear daughter of Alex and Linda Gillis of Brockton, she graduated from Brockton High School in 1980 and from Northern Essex Community College. She worked in the food and beverage industry for many years including Rockingham Park in Salem NH and recently at Andover Country Club. She loved decorating, gardening, fashion and world traveling; she had many fun-filled vacations all over with family and friends. Annmarie was a very kind and generous person who helped many with her love and support; she will be sadly missed by all her friends and especially by her family who loved her very much. She was the beloved sister of Catherine Powers and her husband Michael of Brookfield CT, Donna Wolffe and her husband William of Bridgewater, Michael Gillis of Bridgewater and David Gillis of Orlando FL; and loving auntie of Michael and Andrew Gillis of Bridgewater. Sarah B. Shukis, 97, formerly of Brockton, died May 5, 2012 at Copley at Stoughton.  Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Boleslav Yucknievicz and Antonina Gutkowski Yucknievicz Buyvido and stepdaughter of the late Joseph Buyvido. A graduate of Brockton High School, she attended Boston University’s College of Practical Arts and Letters and received a Master’s Degree from the former College of Business Administration. Sarah taught at Kathleen Dell School in Brookline, Foxborough High School and West Bridgewater High School. Upon early retirement as a business teacher, she worked as a secretary at Quinn Freight Lines. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Ostrobrama Church, 20th Century Catholic Club, Women’s Club, P.M. Club, A.A.R.P., and Retired Education Association of Massachusetts. Sarah enjoyed reading, traveling, line dancing and bowling. Sarah was the wife of the late John M. Shukis and sister-in-law of the late Sylvia Shukis. Survivors include her cousins and close friend Geraldine Stanley. Robert T. Myers, 31, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 21, 2012 after years of illness. He was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School and became a hard worker in the electrical field. Robert loved the challenge of fixing and building things. He also enjoyed fishing, basketball, the beach, landscaping and cooking. He was an excellent cook. Robert was also a lover of animals, especially his dog Buddy. He hoped to volunteer at animal shelters to bring love and comfort to abused animals. Robert was the beloved son of loving mother Donna Myers; he leaves three sisters, Paula Haigis, Dawn Myers and Debbie Myers; and father Robert Myers. He will be extremely missed. John M. McCarthy, 72, of Brockton, died April 16, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 29, 1939, he was raised in Brockton and spent most of his adult life there. John was a member of the first graduating class of St. Casimir School in 1953, graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. A legend in shipbuilding, he worked in Quincy and other shipyards all over the U.S. and was a general foreman and job superintendant at St. John Dry Dock in Canada. He also worked many years as a truck driver. John served on the boards of the Conte Club and Lithuanian Franklin Club and as the manager of the Lithuanian Franklin Club Semi-Pro basketball team. He enjoyed photography, gardening, wine-making and flag pole making. Active in www.people4motherearth.net, he enjoyed traveling and laboring for the cause, stopping at Earth Centers across the U.S. and volunteering his services. John was the son of the late John J. and Alexandra B. McCarthy; brother of Loretta McCarthy of CA and Patrick J. McCarthy and his wife Karen of Brockton; uncle of Maureen McCarthy-Marchand and her husband Matthew and Erin Bruno and her husband Christopher and a great uncle of PJ Bruno. Mary C. (Martelli) Towne, 81, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died April 14, 2012 after a brief illness. She was a waitress at Capeway Manor until retirement and enjoyed the beach in the summer, Mohawk Trail in the fall and fun with family and friends. Mary was the wife of the late Robert I. A. Geraldine Brady, 86, of Brockton, passed away at home on April 10, 2012. Daughter of the late Alma Grinnell and George Ellis, she graduated from Brockton High School in 1943. In her younger years she loved to embroider and earned awards for it. Gerry worked as a salesperson at WT Grant and was a soda jerk at Woolworth’s.  She spent most of her life as a home manager, wife and mother, loved her family and loved children. She was a former Bay State Brownie and Girl Scout leader of Troop 59, member Whitman VFW Post 697 Ladies Auxiliary, former member Gutter Dusters bowling league, avid CB radio talker, frequent contributor to the Cousin Mary column in the Brockton Enterprise, loved flea markets, yard sales, antiquing, family cookouts and summers on Cape Cod, and more recently spent time enjoying passionately rooting for her Boston Bruins and Red Sox and listening to her daily radio talk shows. Gerry was the beloved wife of William E. Brady for 65 years, loving mother of Richard Brady and his wife Joann of SC, Kathleen Solomon and her husband John of Alabama, Alan Brady and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, Patti Brady of Brockton, Donald Brady of Brockton and Laurel Murphy and her husband Richard of Norton; grandmother of 8; great-grandmother of 7 with another expected in May; sister of Norma Hunt of Halifax, Betty Ryan of Brockton and the late Winnifred Condon of Abington; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews. Margaret S. (Geraigery) "Margo" Oswell, 89, of West Bridgewater for over 50 years, died April 10, 2012. A native of Brockton, she worked at Hathaway Bakery until marriage and after raising her children was employed by Foxmoor Casuals. She enjoyed swimming, nature, animals (especially birds and dogs), traveling and cooking. Margaret was the wife of the late Richard E. Oswell; beloved mother of Debbie Bell and her fiancé Frank Wheeler of Taunton and Warren Oswell of Haines City, FL; sister of the late Francis Geraigery, Nicholas Geraigery, Joseph Gregory and Mary Andrews and a dear aunt of many nieces and nephews of several generations. Loretta M. “Micky” Scarlata, 77, of Brockton since 1957, died unexpectedly at home March 27, 2012. Micky was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J Scarlata.  Micky was born in Brooklyn, NY on 9/9/1934, daughter of Rose and William Flynn. She was the sixth of 11 children and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, friend and neighbor.  Micky was a faithful long time parishioner of Christ the King Parish (formerly St. Colman's Church) in Brockton. Loretta was married on August 1, 1953 in Chateauroux France. Micky courageously boarded a freighter bound for Europe to meet and marry the love of her life, USAF Airman Joseph Scarlata.  In France she worked on the Air Force bases where they were assigned and together they traveled Europe. Micky and Joe were married for over 55 years.  She worked at Accudata in Brockton and Avon. Micky will be forever remembered as loyal, loving, thoughtful, dependable, and generous.  She loved taking care of her home, reading, and baking. Micky was a loving and devoted wife who was preceded in death by her husband Joseph and her son Stephen. Micky was also preceded in death by her siblings Robert, Agnes, Raymond, William and Joan. She was the loving mother of Tina Marie Haskell of Boston and the late Stephen J. Scarlata. She was also a loving mother to Laurie Peitz of West Kingston, RI, Kimberly Doherty of Lacey, WA and Amby and Ricky. Micky was a dear grandmother of Keith W. Haskell (and Melissa Huszarski) of Goffstown, NH, Eric J. Haskell (and Jennifer Robbins) of Norfolk VA, Kristen “Rosie” Enes, Sean Enes and Taralynn Peitz and great-grandmother of Kayden W. Haskell of Goffstown, NH. Micky is survived by her brother and sisters including Joseph Flynn of Aiken, SC, Veronica Flynn of Southampton PA, Regina Thomas of San Diego, Ca, Rosemary Burke of Huntington Beach, CA, Grace Flynn-Smith of Queens, NY. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Constance Flynn of W. Palm Beach, FL, Helen Flynn of Matthews, NC, brother-in-law James C. Smith, niece Janet Boyden of Chester, NH and her daughter Jenny Boyden. Other survivors include scores of nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Alfred D. Potter, 67, of Brockton, formerly of Randolph and a native of Roxbury, died March 24, 2012. A decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awaded 3 purple hearts and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as Command Sgt. Major. Alfred worked for the U.S. Postal Service briefly and served Randolph as a firefighter for 28 years. He was a member of Bertocci Club and enjoyed scuba diving, boating and traveling. Alfred was the beloved husband of Karen M. Donald P. Burke, 51, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Jan. 5, 2011 at home surrounded by his family under hospice care after a courageous battle with cancer. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1978 and was employed by W.B. Mason for the past 15 years. Donald loved all sports, traveling, animals, landscaping and gardening and was a kindhearted, funloving man devoted to his family. Donald was the wonderful son of William and Isolde Burke of Brockton; beloved husband of Judy (Bonnette) Burke for 15 years; loving brother of Isolde Peterson, William Burke Jr., Dean Burke, Deborah King, Susan Elliot and Lynne Babbitt; a nephew of Helmut Wanke; a devoted uncle and great-uncle; son-in-law of Gloria Bonnette; and brother-in-law of Kathleen Kijak and Deborah Kanelopoulos. Lauren Amelia Patch, 29, of Kingston, died January 1, 2012. A native of Orlando, Florida, she was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in 2000 and a graduate of Spa Tech, Plymouth in massage therapy. Lauren worked for Mercy Meals & More in New Bedford. An avid Boston Celtics and Red Sox fan, she enjoyed making jewelry, knitting and crocheting, painting, ceramics, reading, arts and her cats Clutch and Kitty. Lauren was the beloved daughter of Mary Berry and her companion Richard Roselli of Kingston and Christopher Patch and his wife Jane of NH; loving sister of Christopher Patch Jr. of Brockton and Madeleine Patch of Kingston; granddaughter of Richard Patch and the late Suzanne Patch and Phyllis and Carleton Berry; girlfriend of Patrick Murphy. Preston S. "Prett" Noel Jr., 69, of Carver, died May 9, 2011. Son of the late Preston and Virginia (Grindell) Noel, he was a lifelong resident of Brockton until moving to Carver 8 years ago. Preston served many years as a K9 officer for the Brockton Police until his retirement. He also ran Prett's Auto Sales at 703 North Main St. in Brockton and enjoyed restoring and detailing old cars. His love for automobiles led his passion for collecting diecast and Nascar memorabilia. He enjoyed family camping trips, wintering in Clearwater, Florida and was always on the lookout for that "I just can't pass it up" deal. He will be sadly missed by family and friends including his beloved wife Elaine of 48 years, daughters Lisa Riley and her husband Joseph of Maine and Kim Novak-Luongo and her husband Paul Luongo of Avon, grandchildren Risto Smith, Joseph Jr., Megan, Autumn, Holly and Preston Riley, Brittany Novak, Paul Luongo and great-granddaughter Destiny Riley and his late grandson Steven Smith. Doreen A. (Augelli) Quaglia, 51, of Brockton, died December 29, 2009. A native of Roslindale and Hyde Park, she resided in Brockton for the past 20 years. She graduated from Quincy College, Phi Beta Theta with honors, with an A.B. in Paralegal Studies, in 1988. Doreen was employed as a health inspector for 15 years for the Brockton Board of Health and was named "Brockton's Woman of The Year" in 2001. An advocate for autistic children, she was also engaged in charitable activities such as Secret Santa. Doreen was the daughter of Marilyn Augelli of Hyde Park and the late Douglas Augelli, beloved wife of Atty. Vincent "Vinny" F. Froio, 66, of Brockton, native of Chelsea and a Vietnam era Army veteran, died Feb. 15, 2009 peacefully surrounded by family. He was a BAT bus driver for many years, a supervisor in security at Chatham West and Pine Estates and also a retired Whitman Auxiliary police officer. As an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed following the New England Patriots. Michele J. "Mickey" Hadges, 49, of Sandwich, formerly of Brockton, died Oct. 26, 2008 after a brief illness. A 1977 graduate of Brockton High School, Mickey worked locally in the food and beverage industry for over 25 years. Mickey loved to shop, garden, birdwatch, spend time with her dog Loco, explore Cape Cod natural history and go to the beach. Maria L. (Nelson) Belcher, 66, of Kingston, formerly of Brockton, died on April 17, 2008. Native of Dorchester, she was a caring daughter to her late parents, Russell and Katherine (Cronin) Nelson of Braintree. She resided in Brockton for over 30 years where she was a true homemaker, raising her three sons and enjoying her home, gardening and great cooking, especially Sunday dinners. Despite lifelong health issues, Maria was a hard-working and generous person who put others first and she was an animal lover. Maria was the devoted wife for 51 years of John J. "Bubba" Belcher, a retired Braintree police officer, the loving and beloved mother of John J. Belcher Jr. and James R. Belcher, both of Lakeland, Florida and Gregory N. Katherine A. "Kay" (Danksewicz) Waitt, 85, of Brockton, was born on March 4, 1923 and died July 5, 2008. Native of Abington, she was a 1940 graduate of Abington High School where she was captain of the girls' basketball team. Married to Edward J. Waitt since July 12, 1942, she assisted him at Waitt Funeral Home for many years. Kay was active in women's clubs and St. Casimir School and Church activities, took community school courses and enjoyed many crafts until becoming blind.
