David Correia Obituary

David John Correia, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2024. He was a passionate, complex and beautiful person. We all have a deeper appreciation for the "ahhtzz" (arts) from knowing David. From photography, to music, movies, comics (he perfected saying "I am Batman"), painting, writing short stories and poetry... He loved expressing himself and the creating process.

He was fond of all the places he lived and traveled to. He was 'psyched' to be from "Bahstin," flexing his impeccable accent as often as he could. He knew every short-cut and secret parking spot, devoutly praying to the "Parking God." He was always very appreciative of his educational journey at Boston University, where he majored in Journalism and made SO many friends. He was a true New Englander who loved each season. No matter the climate, he could adapt. And ever asking "What about those "Pats!?"

He was most proud to have been raised in Brockton, the city of champions. He was so proud to be a Cape Verdean. He loved our heritage, our food, our music, our spirit. He lived by the saying, "Te calle, Te la Banta." Which meant; "If you fall, you get up." He was working hard to build a network of Cape Verdeans all over the world. I know he touched many of your hearts. Whether you knew him a minute or a lifetime, you were his family and he would do anything for you.

He is sadly leaving behind his new wife, Lucia Cardoso. He also is survived by his Daughter Jennifer L. Correia-Foye, Son-in-law Christopher J. Foye, and his Brother Dan Correia, and so many family and friends. May he be with God and reunited with his parents Alcinda Pinansky (Gibau-Correia), Father John Correia, sister Denise, Brother-in-law Christer, and nephew Marcus Eriksson... Forever in our hearts.

Thank you to anyone who has loved him. I am sure he would pass on to all who keeps on living; tell the people in your life you love them everyday - no matter what's happening in your lives, you never know when it will be the last time you interact with each other. Choose kindness always.

"Iluvvm Daddy muah!"

Jennifer L. Correia-Foye
