Walter E. Howard, 96, of Brockton, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 17, 2017. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Teamsters Union as an appliance repairman. Walter had resided on Kevin Road in Brockton for 40 years until living in Halifax and returned to Brockton in recent years. He was a longtime member of Club National and an avid league bowler. Walter was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Huskins) Howard; beloved father of Barbara Mortimer and her husband William of Lady Lake, FL, Carol Barr of Mashpee, Janet Balinski and her husband Andrew of Port Charlotte, FL and Joseph E. Howard and his wife Laura Jean Canducci of Avon; loving grandfather of 7; great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of many; and as one of 19 children of the late Irene and John Howard he leaves many nieces and nephews of several generations. All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday 3 to 7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Calvary Cemetery.
