Wallace E. “Wally” Kahler, 83, of Brockton, formerly of Avon, died September 13, 2016. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as an automotive detailer. An active member of the V.F.W. Post 1046 in Brockton, he served as a past commander and on its honor guard, was a bartender there, and was a former all-state commander as well. He was a member of Polish White Eagles and Club National, both in Brockton, and frequented the Avon V.F.W. Post 8892 also. Wally was the husband of the late Barbara (Finch) Kahler; the former husband of the late Barbara (Shallow) Kahler; beloved father of Wallace “Butch” Kahler and his wife Linda of Bridgewater, Robert Kahler and his wife Cathy of Taunton, Maureen Kahler of Fall River and Carlton Kahler and his wife Christian-Joy of Avon; grandfather and great-grandfather of many; brother of Royce Kahler of Sudbury and the late Cynthia Hall, Rhoda, Charles, Quentin, Clayton, Paul and Russell Kahler; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral service Saturday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
