Victor Figueroa, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016. Son of the late Juan Figueroa and Erotida Figueroa Rodriguez, was born Feb. 10, 1934 and raised in the beautiful mountains of Guayama, Puerto Rico. He went to New York in the 1950’s and eventually settled in Brockton, Massachusetts but his heart never left the island. He met and married Susan (Prue) Figueroa and they remained married for 49 years before her passing in October of 2009. Victor was a lover of the game of baseball, player as well as spectator, close to professional level. He loved woodworking, playing his guitar and listening to what we called his music, the music of his culture that he loved so much. Victor worked in the shoe industry during its heyday when Brockton was known as Shoe City. He also tended bar at the Lido Lounge for many years. He is survived by six children: 4 sons, Victor Figueroa Jr. of Carver, Angelo Figueroa of Brockton, Robert Figueroa of Brockton and Victor Colon of New Jersey; 2 daughters Tina Croce of Brockton and Tami deVries of Arizona; his sister Victoria Figueroa Rodriguez of Florida and the late Louisa Figueroa Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Cremation and private committal.
