Robert D. Jones, 77, of Avon, formerly of Brockton, died January 21, 2016. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Robert worked at Shawmut Mills for many years until his retirement. Robert was devoted to his family, doted on his great-grandchildren and was loved by everyone. He enjoyed NASCAR, golfing and deep sea fishing. Robert was the son of the late Roy and Carolyn (Gillis) Jones; father of Deborah Sullivan and the late Robert D. “Bobby” Jones Jr.; grandfather of Heather Bastis and her husband Sean, Amber Lewis, Brandy Geary and Adam Geary; great-grandfather of Sean Jr., Jarrod Jr., Bella, whom he affectionately called “Bells”, Timothy III, Zoe, KaraLee, Collin, Brianna, Adam Jr., Benjamin and Hailey; beloved brother of Jean Irving, Judith Noon, Roy Jones and the late Scott Jones; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Friday, January 29th from 6-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral Mass Saturday, January 30th at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
