Richard J. Thomas, 58, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 23, 2017 with family by his side. Richard was a graduate of Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology. He had been a Facilities Engineer at Le Meridian hotel and the Westin hotel. Rich enjoyed fixing and repurposing mechanical items such as lawnmowers, snow blowers, washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers to donate to the needy. He also repaired and painted bikes to donate. He enjoyed the great outdoors and was a member of Plymouth County League of Sportsmen’s Clubs. Richard was the beloved son of Jeanette (Baribeault) Thomas of Brockton and the late John P. Thomas Sr.; loving husband of Susan Thomas; dear brother of John P. Thomas Jr. and his wife Norma of Springfield VA, Patricia Kotsiopoulos and her husband Peter of West Bridgewater, and the late Theresa Thomas-Fox; and the uncle of Cheri and Adria Kotsiopoulos. All are welcome to gather Thursday at 8 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton for a procession to his funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Christ the King Parish and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Children’s Hospital or Mass. General Hospital.
