Odette Pollas, 88, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2016. Born in Lascahobas, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Pollas and Ketty Taujours. Odette taught elementary school in Haiti before becoming a mother. She was a talented dress-maker throughout her life and enjoyed serving people. Devoted to her church and faith, she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a happy woman, never complaining, instead taking life in stride. Odette was the beloved mother of Leonide Pollas of Brockton; adoptive mother of Jean Daniel Cenatus of Maryland; loving grandmother of Claude Mede, Sean David Mede and Ketty Mede; dear sister of Pastor Celcius Pollas and Sevigne Pollas, both of Brooklyn, New York. Odette leaves many nieces, nephews, some of whom she raised, and extended family and friends. All are welcome to calling hours Friday, August 26th from 7-9 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral service Saturday, August 27th at 9:30 a.m. in the Brockton Haitian Church, 940 South Main St., Brockton with viewing beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the church. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery.
