Michael J. Foster, 62, of Brockton, passed away on April 27, 2017. A 1973 graduate of Brockton H.S., he had worked at R.E. Lyons & Sons Fire Equipment for 25 years until his retirement. Michael served in the U.S. Army and made many friends during his time of service. He volunteered at the Handi Kids camp in Bridgewater for 2 years, which brought him great joy. He loved sports and going on cruises. Michael was the beloved son of Arnold and Ruth (Barnard) Foster of Brockton; loving father of Jennifer Southwick and her husband Mike of England and Brockton; dear grandfather of Edward Southwick; longtime companion of Nancy Francis of Brockton; brother of Steven Foster of Brockton, John Wayne Foster of Weymouth, Brian Foster and his wife Donna of Taunton, and Diane Flansburg and her husband Paul of Lakeville; brother-in-law of Cathy Ann Turner Foster of Bridgewater; former husband of Barbara Foster of Brockton; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to visitation Friday 11 a.m. – 12 noon, followed by a 12 noon service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton and a 2:30 p.m. committal service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Bridge Center, 470 Pine St., Bridgewater, MA 02324.
