Mary C. (Silva Sargo) Melo, 96, of Brockton, died peacefully Nov. 24, 2016. Formerly of Stoughton, she was employed as a garment stitcher at Lurie Sportswear and Robin Sportswear and was a member of UNITE. Mary was a member of Brockton Council on Aging, Don Davies Center and Red Hats. She enjoyed singalongs and painting, her work was displayed in Boston and local landmarks. Mary was the widow of Joseph Melo; daughter of the late Manuel and Matilda Sargo of Stoughton, beloved mother of John P. Silvia Jr. and his wife Lyn Leone of California; loving grandmother of John P. Silvia III and his children Nathan, Aidan, and Shane of Tewksbury, Kenneth Silvia and his children Jake and Shay of Georgia and Annemarie Silvia and her children Kevin and Brendan McIntyre of Bellingham, sister of Virginia O’Connell and her late husband Earl “Leonard” of Stoughton, sister of the late Elizabeth Sargo of Stoughton, Manuel Sargo and his wife Maria of West Bridgewater and William Sargo and his wife the late Mary Sargo Canty; foster sister of Denise Healey of Lyndeborough, NH, and David Waller of Webster, and a much loved aunt of many. All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday 11/30, 4-7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Thursday at 8 a.m., funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church and burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
