Marie M. (Hanley) Galligan, 90, of Brockton, passed away peacefully June 25, 2017. Native of Randolph, she graduated from Stetson High School in 1944. After employment at Brockton Public Schools’ cafeterias and offices, she retired from Massasoit Community College. Marie was an active member of V.F.W. Post 1046 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed baking and crocheting. She was the wife of the late William P. Galligan Jr.; beloved mother of Susan Maraglia and her husband David of Brockton, Patrick Galligan of West Bridgewater and Michael Galligan of East Bridgewater; loving grandmother of Rene Prentiss, Heather Goodrich, Colleen Galligan, Sean Galligan and Bryan Galligan; great-grandmother of Audrianna; sister of the late Betty West and Jeannette Hanley; an aunt of many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, her funeral Friday at 8 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home, funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Parish and burial at Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to V.F.W. Post 1046, 283 North Quincy St. Brockton MA 02302.
