Margaret L. “Peggy” Dunford, 59, of Melrose, passed away doing the classic Irish exit with grace, dignity and beauty on January 9, 2018, from complications of pancreatic cancer. Native of Brockton, she was the daughter of the late James E. Dunford, BFD and Shirley (Kingman) Dunford and was a 1976 graduate of Brockton High School. She attended Rittner School of Floral Design and notably designed with Tommy Custom Floral Design, her work being displayed at the better Boston hotels. Pursuing education with Color Me Beautiful, The Color Institute, and earning a certificate from Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics, she expanded herself as a color and image consultant. When asked what she did, Peggy’s reply was “helping women to look their best”. She was peggydunford.com on the web, owned Peggy Dunford Studio in Newton and was a member of Doncaster President’s Circle. Though she had a soft spot for shelter cats and followed the teachings of Norman Vincent Peale and Twelve Step Traditions, she also knew how to swing a hammer. Peggy had a photographer’s eye, saw the good in people, enjoyed traveling, and was a Harry Potter fan. Peggy was the beloved wife of Robert M. Drobneck for 27 years; loving sister of Ned Dunford (and Marion) of NC and Jane Fitzsimmons (and Michael) of Brockton; dear aunt of Lori Koenig, Kristi Kelley, and Aaron, Mark and Ryan Fitzsimmons; and a great-aunt of many. “One cat shy of being a crazy cat family”, she leaves her two furry companions Al and Harriet. All are welcome to calling hours Monday, January 15th from 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Tuesday, January 16th at 9 a.m. and funeral service at 10 a.m. in Christ Congregational Church, UCC, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton. Private burial at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Melrose Humane Society, P.O. Box 760668, Melrose, MA 02176.
