Leo F. Buckley

Leo F. Buckley, 80, of Brockton, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Oct. 8, 2016. Born and raised in South Boston, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Buckley, he graduated from South Boston High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, from 1954-1958, in reserve for 16 years then recalled to active duty during Desert Storm, serving 7 months in Rota, Spain. An electrician by trade, he was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 103 for decades and was retired from the M.B.T.A. Leo cherished his many friends: the Good Ol’ Boys from Southie and his friends from V.F.W. Post 1046. He and Kay enjoyed many years of traveling and were joined by family on some trips. Leo was the beloved husband of Kathleen T. (“Kay Swain”) Buckley for 57 years; loving father of Leo F. Buckley Jr. of Weymouth, Kelliann Buckley Kennedy (and her husband Charles Kennedy) of Bridgewater and Stephen M. Buckley of Norwood; dear “Puppy” grandfather of Leo F. Buckley III, Connor, Jilliann and Carah Kennedy, and Stephen and Timothy Buckley; brother of Kathleen MacNeil of N. Weymouth and the late Timothy Charles Buckley; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Thursday at 8 a.m., funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, 42 Wendell Ave. Brockton and burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Boston University School of Medicine (Pulmonary Center: Kotton Lab), Office of Development, 72 East Concord St. L-219, Boston, MA 02118.
