Larry W. Mathews, 67, of West Bridgewater and Cape Coral, FL, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral on Oct. 26, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by his wife, daughters and close friend Bob Widdop. Son of the late Jean and Herbert Mathews, he was a graduate of Wellesley High School and Northeastern University. He was the proud owner of Tropicland Marine and Tackle and Riverside Bait and Tackle in Dedham. Larry also was employed by Tracker Boats Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro and was recognized for over $5 Million in boat sales and was known as The Legend. A Mass Bass Hall of Fame inductee, his love was boating and fishing. Dedicated to family, he attended all his grandchildren’s events, practices and games. Larry was the beloved husband and best friend of Karen (Otika) Mathews for over 43 wonderful years; loving father of Kerri Ferrara (and her husband Richard) of East Taunton and Kelly Ryan (and Richard) of West Bridgewater; devoted grandfather of Matthew and Derek Ferrara and Mackenzie and Brooke Ryan; dear brother of Joyce Oliveri of Centerville and Dana Mathews of Natick; he leaves extended family and many great friends whose lives he touched and will be dearly missed. All are welcome to calling hours Sunday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral Monday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery.
