John J. Salamone, 82, of Brockton since 1963, formerly of Quincy, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 10, 2018 after a brief illness. Son of the late Lena and Raymond Salamone, he proudly served his hometown of Quincy as a patrolman and juvenile detective for 38 years, with a regular detail at St. Mary Church bingo. “Mr. Sal” was a coach and manager for Old Colony/Brookfield Senior Babe Ruth League and vice president of Brookfield Little League for many years. John enjoyed home landscaping and as “Johnny Bass” loved to fish on Cape Cod Canal with his brothers and his children. His quick wit and stories will be missed. John was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Fryer) Salamone for almost 59 years; loving father of Diane and her husband Ernest Talpey of Bridgewater, Robert Salamone and his wife JoAnn of Plymouth and Brian Salamone and his wife Karen of Berkley; devoted grandfather of Ross and Emma Talpey and Caidy, DeAnna, Toni, RyLee, John and Jessica Salamone; dear brother of Rose Hallin and Walter “Bob” Salamone, both of Brockton and the late Constance Morreale and Samuel and Anthony Salamone; and an uncle of many. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral Saturday at 10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
