Elizabeth "Bette" Norma (Celia) O'Connell, of Boonsboro, Maryland, formerly of Middleboro and Brockton, Mass, passed away peacfully on November 23, 2016 with family by her side after a long battle with Parkinsons disease and Dementia. Born on July 30, 1929 in Brockton MA, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Josephine (Grande) Celia. Bette was a 1947 graduate of Brockton High School. She worked as a lab technician for 50 years at Brockton Hospital. An avid sports fan, Bette enjoyed watching her favorite teams, the Red Sox and Patriots and attending the Pats games in the old Foxboro Stadium. She also loved the Opera, often traveling to "The Met" in New York City with her late sister Christine Umana to enjoy a performance. Bette shared a home in Middleboro with her sister and late daughter Lee O'Connell before moving to Maryland with her son Philip. Bette is survived by her son Philip O'Connell, her grandchildren Ashley O'Connell and Jamie O'Connell, his wife Chastity, and 6 great grandchildren Alaana 18, Brianna 17, Anthony 7, Brantley 4, Sophia 4, and Liam 6 months, her Niece, Kim Umana of Brockton, and Nephew, Frank Umana of Florida. She will be missed by countless friends and extended family.  All are welcome to a calling hour Monday 10-11 a.m. and her funeral service at 11 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial at Melrose Cemetery.
