Egidio Damiani

Egidio Damiani, 91, of Brockton, passed away on January 29, 2017 with his wife holding his hand and surrounded by his kids and grandchildren. Born in Zagarise, Italy, he was the son of the late Ippolito and Vittoria Damiani. Egidio immigrated alone to the U.S. over 62 years ago with hopes of achieving the “American Dream”. With hard work and dedication, he became a U.S. citizen and accomplished just that. A talented cabinet maker, he worked for Bristol Millwork for many years until his retirement. Egidio was an exceptional winemaker. He loved music and played many instruments, which were self-taught. Egidio was the beloved husband of Felicia (Muraca) Damiani for 59 years; loving father of Vicky Murray of Bridgewater, Rachel Leonard and her husband Paul of Abington, Maria Dickson and her husband Michael of NY and Ippolito Damiani and his wife Tara of Brockton; dear grandfather of Monica, Patrick and Andrea Murray, James, Kristin and Stephen Leonard, Micaela and Thomas Dickson, and Angelina and Dominic Damiani; brother of 3 late sisters and 1 late brother; and an uncle of 1 nephew and 3 nieces in Italy. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 4-7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Saturday at 8 a.m., funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church and burial at Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Brockton Firefighter’s Relief Association, PO Box 3341, Brockton, MA 02303 or Old Colony Elder Services, 144 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
