Edward J. Waitt, 98, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully May 29, 2017. He was a 1936 graduate of Brockton High School and enjoyed his class reunions. He attended Wentworth Institute and earned a certificate in Machine Construction and Tool Design in 1938, then worked at Portsmouth and Boston Naval Shipyards. He was married in 1942 to Katherine A. Danksiewicz of Abington and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II. He graduated from New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in 1947. He was also a deputy sheriff and per diem court officer in Brockton from 1971 to 1977 where he enjoyed entertaining the jury pools with his timeless sense of humor. Over the years he spent time at Hideaway Village in Buzzards Bay, and later at Parkwood Beach in Wareham where he enjoyed quahoging and playing golf. He was a member of Wareham Elks, Polish White Eagles and Polish Club of North Abington. Eddie was most well-known for joke-telling throughout his life. He resided at Emmanuel House since 2012 and was very sociable there, playing Pokeno, drawing with charcoal, and participating in other various activities.  Eddie was husband of the late Katherine “Kay”; father of Edward J.
