Allen H. Slade, Jr. was born September 4, 1955 in Brookline, Massachusetts to the late Allen H. Slade, Sr. and Frances D. (Taylor) Slade. Allen grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Boston Public Schools. In 1972, Allen graduated from Wayland High School where he excelled in baseball. He served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1974. During that time, he graduated from Great Lakes Naval Academy in Illinois, and served on tours both domestically and internationally; including Scotland, and The Philippines. Upon his honorable discharge, he then attended Fisher College. Allen was a hard working man. He contributed his skills at many companies and also pursued an entrepreneurial venture along with his wife, Frankie. Like his siblings, Allen highly enjoyed watching old westerns, combat movies and was a proud fan of Star Trek. Family gatherings, and fishing were moments of solitude for him. After a long illness Allen passed away on March 18, 2017.  He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Frankie (Hollins) Slade; daughters: Tiajuana Slade, Lertreice (Slade) Bryant, LaToya Slade, Verrlaynne Thomas, Shawna Slade, and Raynisha Slade; sons: Merriel Hollins, Terrance Sampson, Frank Sampson, Allen H. Slade, III, Andrew Slade and David Slade. He is survived by his siblings; Virginia M. (Slade) Hunter, Gladys P. Slade, Mark Slade, Sr., Christopher Slade, Charles Slade, Philip Slade and Courtney Hamilton. Proceeding him in death, Travon Sampson (son), David R. Slade (brother), and Francesca D. Owens (sister). He leaves behind several in-laws, a host of nieces and nephews, along with 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Allen's memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends. All are welcome to visitation Tuesday, March 28th from 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
