Alice F. (Conzatti) Santoro

November 4, 1925 ~ June 1, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Alice F. Santoro (Conzatti) passed from our good earth on June 1, 2016. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Frank (Che Che) J. Santoro for 69 years and the loving mother of Christine M. Santoro, her husband, Bill Riley and her former husband, David Kneeland, Frank J. Santoro III, and PJ Santoro and her husband, Gregory Miller. Alice was called “Nan” by her grandson, Daniel J. Riley, who was apple of her eye. Alice was the dear sister of Gloria Pike (Conzatti) and her husband, Donald H. Pike and the beloved Auntie of the eight Pike children, their offspring and many others on the Santoro side of the family. Alice’s parents, Josephine A. Giacapuzzi and Rudolf A. Conzatti immigrated from Pannone and Patone Austria, respectively. Although they lived only a few miles from each other in Austria, they met each other in East Bridgewater, married and lived in Brockton, Massachusetts. Alice was a lifelong resident of Brockton, attending elementary and middle school in the city and graduated from Brockton High School in 1943. Her good friend Mary Hursey introduced Alice to Frank, Mary’s cousin, on the evening before he reported for Army duty. The next time Alice and Frank met was at a party for Frank’s homecoming from the service. They started dating and were inseparable from then on. After graduation, Alice worked for the Brockton National Bank for several years until her daughter, Christine, was born. After Frankie and PJ were in elementary school, Alice returned to work as a baker at the Brockton High School where she loved making wholesome breads, delicious pizza and yummy pastries for the students and faculty for many years. Alice was an excellent cook. Her family and friends enjoyed eating her Austrian and Italian cuisine. She was an avid reader; her favorite books were historical, mystery and crime novels. She rooted for the Red Sox and Patriots and avidly watched golf and tennis on television. Her travels included trips with her husband to Canada, Florida, New York and Jamaica, as well as many family trips to Vermont, Cape Cod, California and Oregon. She had a keen flair for style and fashion, always dressing in lovely, classic clothing. Alice was a good friend and confidant to many people young and old. Alice will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
